When the US took over the war when the French realized they couldn’t win the war, most Americans didn’t understand the history of the war. It became a very political issue in that (my opinion) it was a war that we should not have gotten involved in. But we did, and for the reason that some people beleived in “The Domino Effect” that proved to be wrong. Very much like Iraq was a threat to the US.
