Where do the clubs shoot?
Leeds SRC uses Strensall as its home. This is also the range used for YRA competitions. It is the army camp to the south-east of York. It is a large complex with 6 ranges of 12 targets from 100-600yds. Becasue it’s a military range, the civilian clubs have to put up with what allocations it can get, but they usually average out at 2 per month. Huddersfield RC has its own range south of Huddersfield, at Brockholes. It has 2 targets at 200yds and 2 at 500yds. It is a very nice range and they shoot there every saturday afternoon in the season (roughly March – November). Sheffield RC had a range at Totley near Sheffield but that has been closed down. Their members use any nearby range they can visit. Other ranges in the north include Altcar near Liverpool (the best in the north of England), Deer Hill, Diggle (both in the Pennines), Catterick and Ponteland (Newcastle).
