A Right of Burial grants exclusive access to a particular grave site within the cemetery stated. When a person applies to purchase a Right of Burial, information should be given as to the name of the person to whom the Right of Burial is to be issued. The person is referred to as the Grantee. • Does the Grantee own the land where the grave is? No. The Grantee’s entitlement is limited to access to the burial site stated on the Right of Burial. • Can anyone apply to have a burial in a reserved grave site? The Grantee (or agent appointed in writing by the Grantee) must apply in writing for a Permit to Bury. • How many burials may take place in the grave sites? There can be two (2) burials in the one grave plus up to 4 placements of ashes. • If the grantee dies, or is not available, who owns the Burial Right? The Right of Burial is considered to be part of the Grantee’s estate. The Grantee’s executor or heirs and successors would usually administer the burial right under these circumstance
