The “beauty” of the Beauty Industry of which airbrush tanning is a fast growing sector, lies in the fact that it is based on the sociologically conditioned confusion that blurred the defining line between a want and a need. Sure we all want to look good, but society has conditioned us to believe that we need to look good. We all know that when we look good, or at least think we do, it has a direct positive impact on the way we feel. Have you ever heard anyone say that they wanted a haircut? Not likely. It’s more than likely “I need a haircut”, “I need a manicure”, “I need a permanent”, and “I need a tan”. Although we truly just want these things, our society has conditioned us to believe we need them, thus we refer to them that way. If someone truly needs something or is conditioned into believing they have a need, they will find a way to get it even at the expense of more important things like food, water, and shelter.
