What is CELDAC?
Community Empowerment through Livestock Development & Credit” (CELDAC) is a corollary of several projects, which UNDP has launched under its “Gender Support Program,” for the socio-economic development of rural areas of Pakistan. Designed upon the request of government of Pakistan, CELDAC is an ideal public-private partnership between UNDP and Nestle Pakistan Ltd, the implementing partner in Punjab component. It is set against the backdrop of Punjab’s rural life that features lives and voices of female livestock workers. Its mission is to ensure income and employment generation of rural women through livestock healthcare skills development, improved livelihoods and food security at household and community level. The project integrates community development with the market mechanism where women are empowered to become livestock health care takers, milk sellers and self driven dairy entrepreneurs.
