Which ebook reader is best?
I’ve purchased 22 ebooks in just over a year and I can declare my personal winner in the ebook wars: the Amazon Kindle app on Apple iPad and iPhone is the victor, beating out the Kobo app and Apple’s own iBooks app. Of the 22 ebooks I purchased, 14 were from Kindle and 8 were from Kobo based on availability and price. Availability is the most important factor, but if multiple stores carry the same title then I buy it from whichever store is cheapest. Kindle is obviously the victor for me, and a bonus is that Kindle doesn’t collect Canadian sales tax while Kobo does. Several of my friends have asked for recommendations on which ebook reader to buy this holiday season. I recommend Apple iPad first and Amazon Kindle second. The Kindle device is much lighter to hold and cheaper than an iPad, but it has two drawbacks.
