How does World Neighbors work?
World Neighbors approach to equitable development and improving women’s lives was developed based on what works in the villages with which the organization partners: programs start small, are based on the needs of the community and work holistically. This approach differs from what might work best in urban settings or in middle income contexts, since the environment of a small village is very different. While in some settings organizations are successful in working only with women, an isolated village where everyone knows and depends on each other requires a different strategy, one that responds to individual and community needs. Because of this, World Neighbors works strategically with women and men individually and together. At the beginning of our partnership with a village, we work with community members to define and prioritize their needs, as well as to develop solutions that will respond to those needs.
