Why Palm Oil Free?

0

Many soapmakers use palm oil, but we chose not to because we found there are more luxurious and beneficial oils to use. Palm oil in the soap making industry is used for many reasons, one being that it creates a hard bar of soap that lathers very well and it is very inexpensive. Most commercial soaps primarily manufacture bars of soap with palm oil and/or palm kernel oil, which can be overdrying to the skin. The overconsumption of palm oil is another reason we do not use it. Researchers have found a link between palm oil and the deforestation of the rainforests in Indonesia and Malaysia. Palm oil plantations are directly destroying the habitat of orangutans and other rainforest animals. Sustainable palm oil is one solution, yet the standards for sustainability are not strictly enforced.
