Who is Bonhomme?
Bonhomme (pronounced “buh-NUM”) is a spoken word poet, visual artist and educator. In 1997 he hosted The Green Onion a jazz-poetry show which aired on Lehman College Radio (WHLC 590 am). A year later he co-founded the Fufu Collective, which shifted The Green Onion into a live performance series held at The University of The Streets located in Manhattan’s East Village. This series showcased the work of many major talents of the spoken word scene, including Saul Williams, Sarah Jones, Jessica Care Moore, and Mums The Schemer (of HBO’s “Oz”). Bonhomme has a chapbook and CD in the works and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling. In his spare time he digs cool breezes, toddler smiles, munching on vegetarian falafel sandwiches and popping bubble wrap. He will be co-hosting the upcoming Chili Con Cornbread series at The Back Fence, located in the West Village.
