Is LA Times The Guide copying Yelps format?

Robert “Gay Foodie” H. says: I have subscribed to the LA Times for many years and I found out about Yelp through the LA Times a few years ago. Ever since The LA Times revamped its Thursday version of the Calendar into The Guide, it feels like I am reading a print version of Yelp. Their ‘Starring as your Hometown” article today reminds me of the weekly emails we get from Yelp. I still get tips on new restaurants and theatrical shows from the LA Times, but maybe they should just hand a portion of The Guide to LA Yelp.
