How did LFC begin?
LFC began as an independent church in 1940, when the Founder Al Ware came to Lompoc to hold “evangelistic” meetings in the city. A growing group of people began attending and soon a church was formed and property was purchased on “C” street and the original sanctuary was erected. This group was very progressive – developing children’s programs and also Youth meetings which were held on various evenings throughout the month. The church was very involved in the community and in ministry to Camp Cook – the local Army Base which today is Vandenberg Air Force Base. After a few years – Al Ware and his family decided to move on from their ministry here in Lompoc and decided the church would be best served and also be assured continuity and support by becoming a denominational church. After much discussion and inquiry the church decided to become a Foursquare Church. The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel was their choice .
