They are not legal in all states. California does not allow them at all. Other states have different restrictions. Some states do not allow them in commercial buildings. Nationwide they are not allowed in recreational vehicles. Check with your local building code official, ask him what restrictions, if any, are placed on “vent free gas space heaters”. Your answer will be the same whether you are installing : a vent free wall hung gas space heater, a vent free gas stove, or vent free gas logs.
