Was Gary Cooper a Nazi sympathizer?
To my knowledge the rumor has been around for quite a while. It was rehashed in print in a Cary Grant biography called “Cary Grant: The Lonely Heart”, a book known for its gossipmongering. Cooper’s family insists that this was just a nasty rumor that came about after Gary and his wife traveled to Germany with family. According to his wife, they went on a trip to Europe with her mother and stepfather and were treated less than hospitably during the visit to Germany.
