This one is tricky. First of all, the version of AppleTalk under A/UX was designed specifically for A/UX… Don’t try installing the Network Software Installer (NSI) disk. Bad Things will happen. With that out of the way, when polled by InterPol, A/UX will respond that AppleTalk v56 is running. However, A/UX’s version is really compatible with version 58. This will cause trouble with those applications that rely on version numbers rather than capability.
