What is an annular cutter?
A. An annular cutter is a cutting tool that goes into drilling equipment like a magnetic drill in order to drill larger holes ( typically 7/16″ up to 3″) into plate or pipe faster than a drill bit. The annular cutter cuts a round slug out or the plate (like a hole saw) instead of drilling out the entire area of the hole desired. Because the metal actually being removed is only the kerf width of the cutters carbide teeth on the outside circumference of the hole, the cutting process is much more efficient than drilling out the entire area of the hole.
