What organizations provide on-farm milk recording and herd record management information and services to dairy producers in Canada?
There are two non-profit agencies in Canada that provide milk recording, herd management services to dairy farms. CanWest DHI services the provinces of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Valacta presently services Quebec producers; however, in a move to streamline services at an affordable cost to dairy famers within both Quebec and Atlantic Canada, an agreement was made to achieve full integration and transition of milk recording services from the Atlantic Dairy Livestock Improvement Corporation (ADLIC) to Valacta by the end of 2007. Up until this point, ADLIC provided milk recording services to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. For further details on the functions, roles and information provided by each of these three milk recording agencies, please refer to their websites at: CanWest DHI: http://www.canwestdhi.com/ Valacta:http://www.valacta.
