– They can move much faster than you think, so don’t get close! – Don’t ever feed them. Take action if you see children or anyone else feeding them. – Be aware that gators are attracted to the noise of lawn mowers and weed eaters, especially during mating season, so they aren’t being aggressive toward you, but rather the noise. – Call Animal Control at (863) 648-3200 when you encounter a gator which is aggressive – Animal Control will capture and relocate gators below 4 feet in length, but they will kill all gators greater than 4 feet in length (so be sure to consider that if you call Animal Control, this is a “death sentence” for big gators!) – For additional tips and information, check out the Florida Fish And Wildlife’s “Living With Alligators” at: http://www.wildflorida.org/gators/faq/lwa.
