What is PG&E’s view on CCA?
PG&E is committed to communicating with customers and communities on issues that directly affect their gas and electric service. PG&E supported the original statewide legislation enabling CCA in California, but has found that the programs proposed to date are not economically viable and would create serious financial risks to our customers, to local governments and to local taxpayers. CCA promoters are relying on the automatic enrollment part of the statute to obtain large numbers of customers without the customers’ affirmative consent. As a consequence, we believe that our customers and taxpayers would be better served by a vote before a local government incurs debt and spends public funds to enter the electricity business.
