Pat hand makes and bakestone cooks the Welshcakes in batches of twenty Maddocks high quality Welshcakes are created from traditional Gower recipes, the secrets of which have been handed down from Mother to Daughter over the generations. We only use the finest ingredients with no added preservatives or colouring. Individual Welshcakes are cooked to perfection on a bake-stone over a gas fire producing a unique home baked flavour in a traditional fashion. Like every other art form, the cookery of a nation has its roots in the raw ingredients available and in the case of cookery the type of fuel used to heat the cooking utensil. Picture the Welsh Kitchen scene where the bake-stone would be heated alongside the kitchen open fire fuelled with Welsh anthracite coal. Each portion of the Welshcake mixture is placed by Mam on the hot bakestone, baked on one side and then flipped over and baked on the other side until just-done, then served piping hot with a cup of tea to the eager family.
