How to plant ginger?

First find a source of really fresh ginger. You might be better looking in a chinese or other ethnic food store rather than your usual supermarket. Select a piece that has plenty of bumps and little buds if possible. Plant it deep in a large pot of ordinary potting compost and keep in a warm place watering sparingly as you would tulip bulbs or something like that. You should see it sprouting after several weeks and then it will grow tall thin leaves. I don’t think it will flower in UK but you never know! When the leaves die down the new ginger roots will form and you can harvest them. Good luck.
