How does Download Fun work?
Download Fun requires both a client in the device as well as a Download Fun server. The Openwave Download Fun Server, which is operated by a Communication Service Provider, provides the mechanism to download binary objects from a content site to a mobile device in a secure manner. The Download Fun client in the device works alongside the WAP browser. Users can navigate to a WAP site that offers downloadable content and select an object for download. Once the user selects content to be downloaded, the download client and the Download Fun server manage all aspects of the download. This includes not only ensuring adequate space in the device to store the object, but also ensuring that there object is supported by the device. Download Fun supports both network initiated and subscriber initiated downloads and logs all events for subscriber billing and 3rd party revenue sharing agreements. Additionally, the content provider is notified of success or failure of an object download.
