The term day trading is simply put as short term trading.This is when you a buy a stock or some stocks or currency and you only hold it for a short term like that same day or in a week and you sell it back to reap the profit instantly when the stock goes up or you buy low and sell at high price for gain in the same day and you do it everyday.You have to be there to monitor the market each minute by minute to be a day trader.
