What Is the Great Sphinx of Giza?
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a statue that is half man and half lion. The face is human and the body is that of a lion. It is one of the biggest stone statues in the world! This ancient statue is situated on the Giza Plateau, which is in the outskirts of Cairo. It is said to have been built in the third millennium B.C. by the Egyptians at that time. What Does the Sphinx Look Like? The sphinx is 20 meters tall and 57 meters long with a width of 6 meters. There’s a temple connected to the sphinx, and it weighs over 200 tons! The sphinx faces eastward, and has a small temple (mentioned above) between its huge paws.
