His exact real name has never been revealed and probably never will. He has gone by various earth style names as alias’ in the past, most frequently ‘John Smith’. During his time at the Time Lord Academy he gained the nickname ‘Theta Sigma’, while his cousins in the House of Lungburrow called him ‘Snail’ because he was the only Gallifreyan who has a belly button. The only fact we know about the Doctor’s true name is that it has 38 syllables.
