What exactly is fullbore rifle shooting?
Fullbore is outdoor shooting with rifles of 7.62 calibre bullets, at black circle targets, over distances of 300 – 1000 yards (or 300 – 900m). It is a sport enjoyed by thousands of people worldwide. Like cricket, fullbore shooting is highly competitive in the big Commonwealth countries – GB, Channel Islands, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, West Indies – but also USA, Europe and parts of East Asia. It’s a sport where all ages, men and women can compete equally. It is a participating sport in the Commonwealth Games, but not Olympic Games. Smallbore rifle shooting is very similar but with smaller calibre rounds (see below).
