What is CALZEPP?
CALZEPP is a proposed first-of-a-kind zero emission fossil-fueled power plant in the world. The proposed location is at the Kimberlina site, but another site could be used. The proposed plant will be a 49 MW facility, capable of producing electricity, and separating and capturing all of the carbon dioxide (CO2) produced. The first 1,000,000 tons of CO2 will be sequestered deep below ground in a saline formation. Subsequently, produced CO2 will be sold for use in enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Thus, the plant will have a very low emissions profile, with no regulated pollutants released during normal operation.
