A good study tip, regardless of the subject, is to group all things that are alike together. Some people get hung-up on what is the same between words. You can do as the first person suggests & find the root word in each of the 2000 words & group by that (disappointment root word would be appoint), or all with a certain prefix or suffix & group by that (prefix for disappointment is dis & suffix is ment), or put them all in alphabetical order, or group by number of syllables, or make up a sentence with the first letter of each of the words you group together(All Good Boys Deserve Friends = musical mnemonic for chords A, G, B, D & F). You have to find the way that works best for your style of learning. We each have our own way of learning that works best for us. Its usually a combination of 2 or 3 of the 7 styles of integrative learning – but that’s another subject.
