Does Tar98 have a size limit of 2GB?

0

All versions of Tar98 prior to 2.44 (May 17, 2001) had a limit of about 2 gigabytes per file in an archive. In version 2.44, support was added to increase this limit to 68 gigabytes. This is the maximum size supported by the tar standard. Currently, the largest supported archive is about 2 terabytes.
