How well can dolphins see?
The consensus is that many species of dolphins can see very well above and below the water. It is highly unlikely that they can see the same colors that humans can, and likely see in shades of black, white, grey, blues and greens. However, their visual acuity is excellent both above and below the water. Because dolphins’ eyes are located on the sides of their heads, they have a blind spot directly behind and directly infront of their head. Otherwise, their range is quite broad. They have binocular vision (this is how humans see) over part of the visual field, such as when they use both eyes to look down or above them. Otherwise, they have monocular vision (like that of deer and horses), and can move each eye independently of each other.
