Dean Potter was an amazing adventurer. He was an expert in freeclimbing, BASE jumping, and slacklining. Taft Point is a 7,500-foot promontory that overlooks Yosemite Valley and it appears they didn’t maneuver around an outcropping in the jump. He was found with his parachute not opened. He was 43 years old.
Background: Dean Potter was born January 18, 1972 and grew up in New Hampshire, United States.
Notable accomplishments: He climbed The Reticent Wall on El Capitan, in 34 hours and 57 minutes with Ammon McNeely and Ivo Ninov which was five days faster than the existing time.
He has walked some of the longest highlines often without a safety leash and his work with the BASE jumping with the flying suite is just amazing.
