Can the complainant remain Anonymous?
A. The Borough Council cannot respond to complaints made anonymously due to the reliance on the complainant to gather essential evidence. However, we will not reveal the complainant’s identity to the offender unless we have obtained permission. It should be noted that, in the event of legal action being taken, the complainant might be required to give evidence in court. The complainant’s appearance in court may be avoided if the investigating officer has witnessed the noise themselves, or in cases where there is a positive risk to the complainant’s personal safety.
