Why are customers so rude?

Working retail builds character and teaches humility. It will be a challenge to make a success of a job like this, but if you can do it you will have learned a valuable skill about working with people and doing what you need to survive (hold a job). It’s a powerful feeling. You can also choose to see these people’s attitudes not as attacks on you (“rude” and “no respect”) but rather that they are likely tired from managing work and family obligations and do not understand how they come across. And if they DO understand how they come across and don’t mind, they are even more to be pitied. It is also exhausting to mentally criticize everyone you come across. That will only make everyone seem rude to you, and your face will wear your unhappiness. Your manager will notice eventually and you won’t be as highly regarded.
