Is the Kaishan Bike a scooter or a bike?
We call these Kaishan Bikes but in reality they have the body of a Scooter and could be called Kaishan Scooters. We call them bikes because that is how they are treated. With electric bikes (electric scooter) you ride them with the same rules as a pedal bike. No license, no insurance, and of course no gas or oil. As a bike you ride on the side of the street, wear a helmet and you are allowed on the Trails and in Nanaimo we have two great ones! By law you need to be 16 years and older to drive one. All Kaishan built electric bikes are compliant with Sect. 2(1) of the CMVSA as Power Assisted Bicycles. They are also street legal in Canada without license or registration.
