How can I recycle in Crighton Ridge?
Crighton Ridge does not have curbside recycling. The reasons we do not participate are 1) cost, 2) participation requirements by Waste Management, 3) implementation problems. • Cost: Adding curbside recycling to our trash collection contract would result in an additional $35 (or more) charge per resident per year. This cost is too large to be absorbed and would result in the annual assessment (Homeowners dues) being raised by that amount. Most residents are not in favor of raising the annual assessment. • Requirements: Waste Management requires all or none participation and a five-year contract for curbside recycling. All residents would be charged, whether or not they chose to recycle, and the Homeowners Association would be committed to the program for five years. • Implementation: There is some question about practicality of recycling as presently practiced.
