Does Schlosser use pathos in his novel Fast Food Nation?

Pathos is the use of emotional appeals to change the viewer’s mind. A common use of pathos is creating a sense of rejection if the viewer doesn’t agree. Creating a fear of rejection is essentially, creating a pathos argument. I don’t think he uses pathos so much as he GIVES EXAMPLES of pathos. (after re-reading this, I think he does use pathos) An example would be when Mike Cameron wore a Pepsi t-shirt on a Coke promotional day when the students were told to wear Red shirts. He was suspended from school. The school punished and rejected him. Gets me emotionally riled up, that’s for sure! Then he goes on to describe how the large corporations would feed animal body parts to cattle and chickens. All in the name of hurry up fatten up and saving money instead of disposing of animal parts the safe way. In time BSE “mad cow” disease developed. Fast Food Nation gives me the shivers – mainly because he uses examples that have been proven true. That’s my opinion and I’m stickin to it.
