Who Is Chantal Kreviazuk?
Well, I’ve already told you that she’s Canadian. Chantal originated from Manitoba (she lives in Winnipeg now) where as a girl, her parents had her classically train as a pianist. She went on her merry way, winning lots of competitions. In 1994 after a serious motorcycle accident, she used her time healing by writing songs. Shortly thereafter, she was signed to the Sony label and worked with two producers – Peter Asher and Matt Wallace – on her first album, Under These Rocks and Stones. Released in 1997, it did quite well and gave her enough name recognition that she was tapped to provide tracks for the soundtracks for Dawson’s Creek, Armageddon, and Providence. She’s been recognized with a couple of Juno awards including Best Pop/Adult Album and Best Female Artist. So if she’s so big in Canada, why isn’t her name on the lips of every man, woman, and child in the U.S. That’s simple. The U.S. has issues with recognizing artists outside of the states. We’re a weird country that way. Detai
