Can QD compress data from data cubes?
QD is designed to accept data from traditional 2-dimension database tables, rather than from 3- or more-dimension data cubes. However, QD can be used as the source data for a utility such as SAS that generates cubes. The utility can simply be pointed at the QDB instead of the usual data mart or warehouse, to generate the cube. What’s more, the cube will be generated far more quickly than it would without QD. Since QD dramatically compresses data, users may find that it’s not necessary to restrict users to the contents of data cubes and may instead prefer users to have a much larger portion of the available data.
