What trails connect to Mid State Trail?
• Pine Lick Hiking Trail, in Maryland’s Green Ridge State Forest, connects the south end of MST to the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park at two points beside the Potomac River near Paw Paw, WV. The “C&O towpath” connects Cumberland, MD, with Washington, DC, crossing Tuscarora Trail at Hancock, MD and Appalachian Trail opposite Harpers Ferry, WV. The towpath also comprises part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, and the Great Allegheny Passage, and the Aamerican Discovery Trail, connects, in turn, to Pittsburgh. • Lower Trail, a rail-trail, hosts MST between Williamsburg and US 22 in the valley of the Frankstown Branch Juniata River. • Ironstone Loop forms a loop with MST, connecting Stone Valley Recreation Area south of State College.
