Why not tax illegal immigration?
We couldn’t stop alcohol consumption, so we repealed Prohibition and taxed it. We couldn’t stop people from betting on “the numbers,” so we allowed state lotteries. Gambling was out of control, so we permitted “Indians” to open casinos (including the Atlantic City, N.J., Indians). Now, there is a movement to legalize and tax marijuana. Why not legalize (illegal) immigration? Set up ticket booths at the border: $10 for a day pass, $100 for a monthly pass, but limited to the border states, $500 for an unlimited “See the U.S.A.” pass. Seniors and children are half price. We reserve the right to refuse entry to criminals and terrorists. Or maybe, come up with a comprehensive immigration control plan, if the politicians can find time between campaign speeches.
