What is address matching?

The USPS maintains a database, updated monthly, of every valid, recognized mailing address in the United States. This USPS master address database is known as the Address Matching System, or AMS. Prior to printing, Stamps.com will automatically try to match each mailing address you enter with an address entry in the AMS database. As part of this check, Stamps.com validates your address, adds the proper ZIP+4 code, and places your address in proper USPS format. It checks the accuracy of the street address, but does not guarantee that a specific street address exists. AMS will improve the accuracy and timely delivery of your mailings. AMS is an online solution, so there is no need to purchase or order an updated CD-ROM which is required by other systems.

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
