How big is the smart meter?
The size and shape of a smart meter is comparable with a standard meter. A smart meter fits into the existing size and shape of the meter base currently at your residence. The smart meter is a mini computer board, which doesn’t take up the whole space of the meter base, but uses the existing hardware and structure already in place. At non residential locations, a rectangular box will be installed. The box, or “gatekeeper,” collects data from many smart meters and transmits the collected data to the company.
