Do goldfish get lonely?

Answer Hi Andrea; Goldfish don’t get lonely so he is fine all alone. Their favorite ‘sport’ is eating and they do it quite well all alone. 😉 Actually the tank really can’t support another one anyway. It’s too small even for just one goldfish. Goldfish are messy guys that get to be 6 to 8 inches long and live for over 10 years. If yours have stayed small or don’t seem to be able to stand the strong filter current it’s just because their environment is too small and wastes are building up too quickly. They also can’t “stretch their fins” and get some real exercise in such a small area. It weakens them considerably and makes them prone to illness and obesity. Your last guy just happens to be a really strong survivor.
