Some cause warts on the outside of the genital area called Condyloma Accuminata. Some cause changes on the cervix that show up on pap smears. How do you get the virus? The most common way to get the virus is from sexual contact. It does live outside the body for a period of time, so you can get it from tanning beds, sex toys, towels and even sharing underwear. Condoms do not prevent you from getting the virus, but cut down on the transmission. How can I reduce my risk of getting the virus? Never have sex(!!!!!) Do not share any objects or clothing.
