What are SVPs aims?
SVP is a charity whose object is the teaching of English in Sudan, the biggest country inAfrica. English language is increasingly recognised there as a key component of businessand development. While many Sudanese have received formal instruction in Englishgrammar they have had no experience of hearing a native English speaker or lack theconfidence to speak the language in ordinary conversation. The teaching they havereceived may not be of the best quality, either. Most SVP volunteers work with students inuniversities where our informal approach has best results. SVP where possible arranges forvolunteers to fly together in small groups several times a year, though often individuals goby themselves.
