What is a DOI (digital object identifier)?
A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) uniquely identifies each PNAS article. A DOI can be used to retrieve a manuscript abstract or full text from the PNAS website. Journalists and readers may easily search for articles on the PNAS website and make a hyperlink to manuscript’s location with the DOI. The DOI is incorporated into the web address for each article. For instance, the article associated with DOI 10.1073/pnas.0736457100 is available at http://www.pnas.org/cgi/doi/10.1073/pnas.0736457100.
