Foods can be safely refrozen so long as temperature control measures have been in place – e.g. the food hasn’t been out of temperature control for more than 2 hours. Any time out of temperature control will need to be allowed for when applying the 2/4 hour rule when re-using the food. The quality of some foods will deteriorate with refreezing.
