Are pigs intelligent?

YES! PIgs are some of the most intellignet animals on the farm. In fact there are times they are TOO smart for their own good. Pigs learn very quickly & will not be “fooled” by the same thing twice. SO what does this mean? Patience! For example when you are trying to move pigs you have to do things on their time with gentle persuasion. If you want them to go through a gate most times food will get them through but not always. If possible leave the gate open so they can go through at their own pace. If you are wanting to load pigs into a trailer do not try to do it the day you need to be somewhere. It rarely works. Make sure you back the trailer up to where you want to load the day before & do it when the pigs are hungry. Open the door & put the food in the trailer. Ideally have at least two of you “working” on this – one in the trailer, the other one ready to shut the door quick once they are loaded.
