Why is Earth Defense stand alone?
Earth Defense will be stand alone due to the size of the project. When Earth Defense is released in its entirety, it will include a multitude of ships as well as new interface, effects and other media. Maintaining compatibility with FreeSpace Open and regular FreeSpace releases will cause many problems between Earth Defense and other modifications such as the MediaVPs.
