How do I replace a toilet overflow tube?
Draining the TankPlace one towel on the floor nearby. Shut off the water supply to the toilet and remove the tank lid. Flush the toilet to lower the tank water level, and use a second towel to soak up any remaining water. Place the towel on the floor beneath the tank and remove the connected water supply line, allowing any water to drain onto the towel. Remove the end of the refill tube connected to the overflow tube, and also disconnect the flapper chain from the flush lever.Getting to the Overflow TubeStraddle the toilet seat and, while holding the nut beneath the bowl with an adjustable wrench, unscrew both mounting bolts on the tank bottom inside, using a slotted screwdriver. Gently lift the tank from the bowl and carefully set it down on the first towel. Remove the flange nut that holds the flush valve assembly, which the overflow tube is attached to.
