1) “According to Matthew and Luke, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea to Mary, a virgin, by a miracle of the Holy Spirit.” Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus However, according to the Book of Mormon ► Alma ► 7: “10 And behold, he shall be aborn of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the cland of our forefathers, she being a dvirgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and econceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.” Source and further information: http://scriptures.lds.org/alma/7/10#10 2) Here is a Mormon point of view about this: “Many point out that Alma 7:10, a scripture in the Book of Mormon, states that Jesus would be born in the land of Jerusalem. Because the Bible says he was born in Bethlehem, critics suggest that the Book of Mormon must be a fraud. In reality, Alma 7:10 is strong evidence of the historicity of the Book of Mormon as an authentic ancient text.

SHORT ANSWER: No, of course not, despite LdS Apologist attempts at trying to spin doctor Joseph Smith’s blatant error in Alma 7:10. LONG ANSWER: The Birthplace of Jesus: Bethlehem or Jerusalem? By WAYNE JACKSON February 2, 2005 For many years, critics of the Book of Mormon have called attention to a colossal blunder in that volume (but one of many), though the book claims to be a “revelation” from God. In Alma 7:10, the plagiarizing, inept author of that document “slips,” and names “Jerusalem” as the birthplace of Jesus Christ, rather than “Bethlehem” — the correct location. Here is the exact quotation. “And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost,*,and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God” (Alma 7:10). A would-be apologist for the Book of Mormon, via his web site, has attempted to defend this obvious error. Jeff Lin

The Book of Mormon states that Jesus Christ was born “at” Jerusalem not “in’ Jerusalem. Jesus Christ was born “at” Jerusalem. The city of David (Bethlehem) is “at” Jerusalem: (Old Testament | 2 Kings 14:20) 20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
